Welcome to the wonderful World of Truman!!

Truman was born January 29th, 2005 in Coulterville, California. Truman is an Aquarius.

In early 2004, we began thinking about getting a puppy. We had agreed that we were interested in a Boston Terrier because of their size and temperment. After a year of trying to get a rescue, we finally contacted some local breeders.

DAY BOSTON TERRIERS was the breeder we got little truman from. Wendy - the owner - spent over an hour on the phone with me talking about whether a Boston would be a good fit for our family. What was most important to me was what I had initially read on her website:

"Unlike a lot of breeders, we are not breeding essentially for looks, it is personality and health that we aim for above all else."

If you are in the Bay Area and looking for a Boston Terrier, I would highly recommend Day Boston Terriers. Bred with longer snouts, Truman snores only occasionally. Even our veterinarian clinic has commented on Truman's longer snout.

Why is he called Truman?
Many people think Truman is named after Harry S. Truman. Why would we name our dog after a president that dropped atomic bombs on Japan???? No. Truman was a name chosen by Matthew that would be unique - one that not many other dogs would be named - that when called at a dog park he would likely be the only Truman there. Inspired by the author Truman Capote (who kind of looks like our pooch), bulging eyes etc. THIS is why we named him Truman.

Truman has medical insurance provided by

I HIGHLY recommend pet insurance for your pet. Truman had an allergic reaction to this 2nd set of shots which landed him in the Emergency et clinic. The bill was over $250. I paid a $50 deductible and the balance of my claim paid for the premiums for almost the next year! Click on the logo above to read more information on their dog and cat programs.

Truman is microchipped through Home Again pet recovery service. His identification number is 46382F4F48.

I don't remember what it cost, I think it was like $25, but at least if Truman were to get loose, hopefully he would find his way back to us.

Additionally, Truman is listed with 24PetWatch.com.

We participate in the following Boston Terrier groups:

Alameda Boston Terrier Social
(socials held the 3rd Saturday of every month)

Bay Area Bostons

Golden Gate Boston Terrier Central

San Francisco Boston Terrier Social
(socials held the 2nd Sunday of every month)

VCA Lewelling Veterinary Clinic is our vet of choice. Dr. Rebecca Price DVM is our vet.

We feed Truman Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken Adult Dog food which is also listed on the Whole Dog Journal. The Flint River was causing a skin irritation and we think it is from wheat. Truman also gets one half pump of Vet Solutions Omega 3 fatty acid liquid in his food at night as a skin and coat supplement. In addition he gets 1/4 tablet of the Synovi G3 Chewables as a nutritional supplement.

Truman with his littermates Rocky and Sassy. Laurie happened upon a woman walking
2 Bostons. Since we got Lucy from her, she was keen on the breed. She thought
Rocky looked like Truman... sure enough! they are from the same litter! Rocky, Sassy and
Truman are all Alice babies!

Here are the newest pictures of Truman...

The above photos were taken November 12th, 2005. Truman
gets very cold and shivers and LOVES his sweaters! Since we are
going up to Tahoe I had all his clothes out for the trip so thought
some pictures were in order. :) The picture right above to the left with the
black and red sweater is Truman's "Mommy can I please have that treat that is
on the arm of the couch" look.
